The Customerblooms Scholarship Contest

Every Year, The Customerblooms Scholarship Contest will require students to think outside the box and strategize how to STEP UP in the real world. The contest requires you to create a Short 2-5 minute video of yourself talking about how ideas help shape the world around us, why education is a critical element to future success, and touching on why you strive for greatness ” what motivates you”? Your Video will be judged on the level of creativity and persuasiveness, as well as how informative it is.

Universal Teen is a scholarship based program established by the W omen of Color Cultural Foundation,
Inc. (WOCCF). The purpose of the program is to provide a supportive and congenial environment for self
awareness, personal growth, and respect for others from diverse backgrounds. The program helps to nurture and
build positive scholastic achievement, creativity, healthy living and community involvement. It also promotes
self confidence, poise, and effective communication skills.
The objectives are to:
 Provide a forum to teach life skills (e.g., career essentials, financial management, social awareness, etc.)
 Promote awareness of cultural diversity and respect for human differences
 Empower young men and women to realize and embrace their inner beauty and self worth
 Provide financial assistance for post high school education

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Young men and women currently enrolled in high school may compete for scholarship money. Participants of this program must
live or attend school in the First Coast of Florida area (e.g., Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, Putnam, and St. Johns counties).
Orientation with parents and participants is on January 7, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at WJCT Public Broadcasting located at 100
Festival Park Avenue (next to Metro Park, across from the Everbank Stadium) in downtown Jacksonville. Orientation with
a parent and participant is required. Completed Applications should be received by December 31, 2016 or bring with you
to orientation.

PROGRAM PRODUCTION—DATE AND VENUE
Participants are expected to attend all workshops which include “rehearsals.” Workshop topics include public speaking, written and oral
communication skills, stage presence, cultural diversity awareness, personal growth and development, interviewing skills,
financial management, etiquette training, college/job readiness, and community involvement. Participants must also select a
platform issue/a social cause (identified through research of their selected country) of which they will make recommendations to
effect change.
The culminating event crowing Mr. or Miss Universal Teen will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Ritz
Theatre & LaVilla Museum.

SCHOLARSHIPS
The following scholarships are awarded for participants.

*Scholarship recipients are required to send a “request” letter to the organization indicating the amount of their winnings along
with a college acceptance letter. Scholarships are made available in the name of both the participant and the college for which
they have been accepted. Mr. or Miss Universal Teen must attend selected WOCCF functions during their reign.

REQUIREMENTS, RULES, AND REGULATIONS
The program is open to young men and women who meet the criteria set forth in the Requirements, Rules, and Regulations.
Participants must also be able to fulfill the time commitment and responsibilities of the scholarship program.
Each participant must:
1. Be a legal resident of the United States or a U.S. citizen.
2. Be in good standing with their academic institution.
3. Participants are required to attend the orientation and workshops/training. Workshops are held from 1:00-4:00 pm and will be
located at the Women of Color Cultural Foundation Office - WJCT Public Television, 100 Festival Park, Jacksonville, Florida
unless otherwise pre-notified.
4. Submit completed application which includes letter of recommendation and personality form.
5. Be respectful to fellow participants, program administrators and staff.
6. Agree that all decisions of judges are final, irrevocable and binding.
7. Permit WOCCF the right to use their name and photograph for publicity purposes.
8. Understand that WOCCF reserves the right to change the date and/or location of the Universal Teen Scholarship Program.
9. Participants are required to provide a typed written description of their wardrobe (that will be worn on the night of the
culminating event-February 18, 2017) including evening/formal wear, and national/cultural attire.
10. Secure a minimum of two pages of ads in souvenir program book and ten event passes by February 11, 2017.
11. Any participant and/or family member or guest showing less than sportsmanlike behavior (i.e., teasing, disrespectful, etc.) will
lead to the disqualification of the participant. No refund or awards will be given under these circumstances.

Each year, we welcome 25 new Trustee Scholars to the Boston University community.
Trustee Scholars rank at the top of their classes and demonstrate exceptional leadership in their schools and communities. Scholarship recipients are selected by a faculty committee from a competitive pool of applicants. The Trustee Scholarship covers full undergraduate tuition plus orientation and mandatory undergraduate student fees for four years.
To be considered students must submit their application for admission and two Trustee Scholarship essays by December 1, 2016. Application instructions are available online at bu.edu/admissions/trustee

Davidson College

Davidson College invites you to apply for the John M. Belk Scholarship. Eight Belk Scholars will be chosen in Davidson's Class of 2021, each receiving: an annually renewable scholarship equivalent to the college's comprehensive fees (valued in 2016-2017 at over $61,900), and two study stipends ($3,000 each).

The K. Hunter Goff Bankruptcy/Consumer Rights Scholarship:

Criteria: Applicant must be attending college by Fall 2017 and have at least a 3.0 GPA. They must be interested pursuing a law-related degree.

Wesleyan University Hamilton Prize for Creativity:


The Wesleyan University Hamilton Prize for Creativity: The four-year full-tuition scholarship was established in honor of Hamilton writer, composer, and lyricist, Lin-Manuel Miranda and direct Thomas Kail. Miranda and Kail serve as honorary chairs of the Prize Committee.
Prize Amount: The Wesleyan University Hamilton Prize for Creativity is a four-year full-tuition scholarship worth more than $200,000 in total
Eligibility: All incoming first-year students are eligible to apply for the prize, which will be awarded to the student whose work of creative written expression is judged to best reflect the originality, artistry, and dynamism embodied in Broadway's Hamilton. To qualify for the prize, the recipient must be accepted to and enroll full-time at Wesleyan University for the 2017-2018 school year. Interested students can apply online at weslyan.edu/admission

Scholarship for high school senior male students: The Upsilon Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. will host its 9th annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratorical Competition on February 4, 2017 (9:06am-12pm) at Jean Ribault Senior High School. The preliminary competition will be held at Ribault on January 7, 2017. Speeches must have original content and and cannot exceed 800 words (minimum delivery time of 4 minutes; maximum delivery time of 7 minutes.) The contest finalists will compete on February 4th. First place winner will be awarded $3,000 academic scholarships to the college of his choice. The second place competition winner will be awarded a $1,500 scholarship. The third and fourth place competition winners will each be awarded a $500 book voucher to the college of his choice.

Association of Nigerians in Jacksonville
Scholarships are awarded to academically talented and well-rounded scholars who's desire is to attend an institution of higher learning either it be trade school, 2 year or a 4 year institution. Scholars should be a Florida resident of Nigerian decent in their senior year of high school. Selection will also be based on academics of a 3.0 or higher unweighted grade point average, extra-curricular activities, recommendations and assessment scores SAT 1200 or higher (math and reading) / ACT 21 or higher (composite).
