YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP FUND OVERVIEW AND APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Scholarship(s) will be awarded to high school seniors (hereinafter referred to as “student”) who have met the eligibility requirements and criteria listed below, and who are planning to enroll in an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution during the 2016-2017 school year. The number of scholarships and the dollar amount of each scholarship will be determined by the amount of funds that will be raised at the Pepsi/Funk Fest/Jacksonville Urban League Golf Tournament scheduled to be held on April 22, 2016. Scholarship recipients will be selected by a committee appointed by Pepsi®, Funk Fest and the Jacksonville Urban League.
ELIGIBILITY:

ELIGIBILITY:
- Student must be currently enrolled and attending a public, private, or parochial high school for the 2015-2016 school year.
- Student must be a legal U.S. citizen and currently enrolled and attending an eligible high school within the counties of Duval,
St. Johns, Nassau or Clay within the state of Florida or the counties of Camden or Glynn within the state of Georgia. - Student must be planning to enroll and will need to be accepted into an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution for the
2016-2017 school year to be eligible to receive the scholarship. - Student must be planning to pursue a degree (or an equivalent) at an accredited US post-secondary institution during the
2016-2017 school year. - Student must have a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. GPA cumulative from Grade 9 and committee must be provided with the student’s transcript from an authorized school faculty member.
- Complete Application Form – (Applications may be copied.)
- Copy of high school transcript.
- Essay of NO MORE THAN 250 WORDS describing student’s career goals and what affect on their education the scholarship
would have if they’re selected. - An additional 50 words describing which Pepsi product best represents your personality and why.
- Student must submit two (2) letters of recommendation, one letter from an authorized high school faculty member, and one letter from a community leader or an employer familiar with the student’s career interests.
- Student’s application, essay, and all required documentation must be received by April 15, 2016.
- The scholarship recipients will be chosen by a committee as stated above, the selection process will be based on the
sole discretion of the committee and the committee’s interpretation of the eligibility requirements and application
documents’ requirements. - The committee reserves the right to request an interview with a student being considered as a scholarship recipient.
- All scholarship checks will be payable to the accredited U.S. post-secondary institution to be held on account for the student
- Scholarship recipients will be notified in writing by the
Jacksonville Urban League on or before June 30, 2016. Only to be used to
pay for tuition. Scholarship recipient will be responsible for all
taxes and fees associated with receipt of the
scholarship funds if applicable.
